Michigan State gives 5-star C N’Faly Dante an offer for 2019

In what was some absolutely shocking news from seemingly out of nowhere, today, Jake Weingarten from Stockrisers said that he has been told by a source that Michigan State has given an offer to N’Faly Dante.

Dante is a five-star center who many consider to be the best center in high school basketball right now. Every recruiting site that I have looked into has him listed from anywhere in the 11-17 ranking for his recruiting class, which would make him one of Izzo’s highest recruits ever.

So how does Michigan State expect to land such a lauded 6’11 center that most didn’t even expect to be available until next year? Well, for one thing, he is best friends with signed Michigan State recruit and four-star forward Malik Hall. This could give the Spartans an inside track at recruiting the big man out of Wichita, Kansas.

Where this gets really interesting is that there are rumors out there that Dante might be able to change his recruiting status to 2019 and leave high school early for the NCAA. If possible, it could enable someone like Tom Izzo, who has one open scholarship for next season, to swoop in and recruit a guy who, quite frankly, is probably too highly ranked for Izzo to try and recruit without quite a bit of luck.

What is true, is that this is more than just a rumor. After I posted this, first labeling it a ‘rumor,’ I had to go back and change the title after seeing that Dante himself retweeted the report.
