Rules for socially distanced picnics revealed by This Morning doctor including what shapes to sit in

A top doctor has revealed the rules we should all be abiding by for socially distanced picnics.

While Government lockdown measures were officially eased on Monday, June 1, to allow groups of up to six people to meet up outdoors, this is still to be done two metres apart, meaning that while meeting up with friends and relatives for some al fresco food and drink is a great way of catching up, rules still apply.

As some scientists warn that the lockdown restrictions have been softened too quickly, Doctor Amir Khan appeared on This Morning on Tuesday to outline the rules we should be sticking to when seeing friends and relatives outside, even outlining the best shapes to sit in for your catch up.

These are the top tips that Dr Khan shared with hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby:

*Do NOT share utensils or condiments- coronavirus spreads on hard surfaces so don't pass sauces, knifes, works, plates etc to people from different households

*DO NOT share food with other households - while sharing food is usually a given when having a picnic with someone, you should take your own food and drink to consume if you are meeting with people from another household

*Try and sit in a hexagon, pentagon or parallelogram - see below for a seating layout recommended by a top mathematican on the best shapes to adopt for meeting up with friends outdoors

*Do NOT help the host clean up - if you're going for food and drink in a friend's or relative's garden, avoid helping them as you will be touching items from their household after you've touched things from your own.

*Avoid going inside. Prime Minister Boris Johnson said that going in someone's house to get to a garden is now allowed but should still be avoided.

If you go inside to use the toilet, wipe down the toilet afterwards and wash your hands thoroughly.
