Rules change for travelling across the border to Wales from tomorrow

From tomorrow, visitors from England will be able to travel across the border into Wales.

Following the relaxation of travel rules within Wales, people will from Monday (April 12) be able to travel both ways across the border again, reports North Wales Live.

Due to its proximity and natural beauty, North Wales is always a popular destination for people travelling from Merseyside.

There have been numerous occasions during the national lockdown that tourists from Liverpool have been hit with fixed penalty notices and sent home for for illegally travelling to Wales for day trips.

Now, with lockdown measures continuing to ease, Welsh Government First Minister, Mark Drakeford has announced that as of Monday, people will be able to travel both ways across the border again.

However, the rules depend on whether Covid-19 rates remain low and conditions favourable.

As well as non-essential retail reopening in both Wales and England on Monday, people in Wales will also be able to travel to outdoor settings elsewhere in the UK.

As a result, last week, Chester Zoo said it was in a position to release some exclusive member booking slots for visits between Monday April 12 and Wednesday April 21.

It said standard tickets for the general public would become available once it has final confirmation of its reopening date following government announcements.

The tourism sector in both Wales and England will also be open to holidaymakers from across the border as of Monday, with self-contained holiday accommodation, including hotels with en-suite facilities and room service, able to reopen to people from the same household or support bubble.
