With Covid restrictions coming to an end, there is a major rule change coming in Irish supermarkets.
From Monday, February 28, people will no longer need to wear masks in shops like Aldi, Tesco, Supervalu, Lidl and Dunnes.
It will now be up to the customer to choose if they wish to wear a face mask while they shop, or not.
Face coverings will now only be required in a few settings, such as healthcare, with mandatory mask rules due to relax on public transport and schools as well.
Citizens Information explains: "The legal requirement to wear a face covering will no longer apply. You will no longer have to wear a face covering on public transport, in taxis, shops, schools and all other indoor public areas. Staff in hospitality settings will no longer need to wear a face covering."
However, while it will not be mandatory, it will still be recommended to wear a mask on public transport and in healthcare settings.
And if you test positive for Covid-19, "you have to isolate for 7 days and wear a face mask".
Citizens Information said: "If you are 13 years and older you should wear a Medical grade or FFP2 for 10 days. If you are under 12 years you should wear a well-fitted mask for 10 days."
