Canberra's e-scooter users have been reminded to stay safe or repeat offenders will be banned from rolling around town.
One of Canberra's e-scooter providers, Neuron, said despite the majority of riders abiding by the rules, there had been several people failing to wear a helmet and taking passengers.
Neuron's regional manager Richard Hannah said a safety campaign would be launched this week with 'safety ambassadors' stationed around the city to remind riders of the rules.
ACT Policing last month urged riders to remain on footpaths, stay clear of pedestrians and find an alternative way home if they'd been drinking.
Anyone caught breaching the rules of riding could face a $150 fine.
Mr Hannah said Neuron could identify users breaking the rules and if offenders continued bad behaviour, their account would be suspended.
"All of our e-scooters are GPS-connected and all trips are logged so it's fairly easy to identify the small number of riders who are breaking the rules," he said.
"Our e-scooters are also fitted with registration plates which help people report any issues.
"We generally warn people and try to re-educate them but we can also suspend their accounts if they have been riding dangerously or if they continually break the rules."
Neuron's safety ambassadors can be found at City Walk, Kingston Foreshore, Regatta Point and Queen Elizabeth Terrace from Thursday to Sunday.
Participants who pledge to be a safe rider will be given e-scooter credits for future rides.
