Welcome to the Evening Standard’s LIVE coverage of the Rugby World Cup in Japan as we head towards the business end of the pool stage.
New Zealand ran riot in Oita on Wednesday as they thrashed minnows Canada 63-0 in Pool B.
The defending champion All Blacks crossed the whitewash eight times after being awarded an early penalty try as they sent out a formidable warning to their rivals.
Earlier in Fukuoka, a late flurry of tries spared France from potential embarrassment against the USA in Pool C.
Les Bleus led by only three points with 15 minutes remaining after an error-strewn performance, but sealed a comfortable win and try bonus point courtesy of late scores from Gael Fickou, Baptiste Serin and Jefferson Poirot.
