Australia vs Uruguay LIVE: Rugby World Cup 2019 latest score, stream and updates from Pool D fixture

Follow live updates from the Rugby World Cup as Australia and Uruguay go head to head in Oita.

The Wallabies, who have experienced mixed results so far in Japan, are looking to return to the top of Pool D with a victory over their South American opponents.

Although Australia currently find themselves a point behind Fiji, they have a game in hand on the Pacific Islanders and are expected to come through the clash with Uruguay without too much difficulty, with a final win over Georgia enough to take them through to the quarter-finals. Follow the live action below:

Hello all and welcome to The Independent's live coverage of this morning's Rugby World Cup clash between Australia and Uruguay.

We'll be bringing you all the live action, reaction and analysis - so make sure to stay tuned!
Morning morning.

This should be simple enough for Australia. The Wallabies are hoping to get back on track after that narrow defeat to Wales, while Uruguay appear to have had their crowning 2019 World Cup moment with that remarkable win over Fiji, and anything more would be a bonus at this point. Los Teros will not be cowed by the might of the Australian side, though, and they have the ability to make this a sticky little affair in Oita if Australia stumble out of the blocks.

Kick-off is not far away...
Team News - Australia

Australia ring the changes, with Michael Cheika opting to give some of the fringe members of his squad game time against Uruguay.

Exciting back Jordan Petaia makes his Wallabies debut on the wing and will provide pace and power out wide, while it is an Australian team with three distributors - Lealiafano, To'omua and Beale will look to shift the ball wide and cause damage in wider confines.

A couple of changes to this Australia squad that have been announced this morning - Jack Dempsey and Lukhan Salakia-Loto swap numbers, while James O'Connor drops out of the squad, with Samu Kerevi taking the 22 jersey.

Team News - Uruguay

Uruguay hand starts to both Ormaechea brothers as Esteban Meneses manages his squad. Tomas Inciarte comes in at outside centre for the impressive Juan Manuel Cat, and look out for replacement loosehead Joaquin Juansolo - may the force be with him...
Australia will be wearing a special jersey today, and Kurtley Beale, the only aboriginal player in the Wallabies' squad, is excited to don the indigenous jersey as it makes its World Cup bow.

Jordan Petaia makes his Australia debut today, and it is mark of how highly rated the precocious wing talent is that he is able to debut at a World Cup. A freak athlete with pace and power, Petaia was called up to the Australia squad last year for the autumn internationals but injury robbed him of a potential first cap, and his season in Super Rugby was impacted by a couple of injuries, too.

But he earned a call up to the Australia squad regardless, and can press for inclusion in more consequential contests today. Petaia's long-term home may be outside centre, but Michael Cheika seems rather excited about his potential on the wing, and rightly so. With considerable rugby nous to complement natural physical gifts, look out for Petaia in defence and attack today.

Out into the hot and sticky Oita Stadium the players wander. Both team are in change kits - Uruguay's a clean white number.

Anthem time.
KICK OFF
Christian Lealiifano gets us underway in Oita.
1 minute

Australia look to build a first attack with big carriers around the fringes, but blindside flanker Manuel Ardao latched on over the top of Adam Coleman as the lock is left exposed at the breakdown to win a holding on penalty. Sharp work from Ardao.
4 minutes

Australia win a penalty from the first scrum, and launch from the back of a stagnant maul inside the Uruguay 22.
5 minutes

The ball bounces free and Uruguay try to hack it away, but only succeed in firing into the legs of Kurtley Beale, and the ball bounces into the hands of Tevita Kuridrani.

Space on the left, and Australia find it...
TRY!
TRY! Dane Haylett-Petty dives over!

The Uruguay defence is much too narrow and Kurtley Beale is screaming for the ball as Nic White picks up at the base of the ruck, and it is simple passing to work the ball through the hands of Beale to wing Haylett-Petty, who is in untouched in the corner with a dive.

Over goes the conversion.

Australia 7-0 Uruguay
8 minutes

Australia fumble the restart and hand Uruguay attacking ball, and Nicolas Freitas draws a free ten metres with a quick tap from a penalty, the Wallabies not back the requisite distance.

Penalty prodded into the corner.

9 minutes

Uruguay opt to maul from the lineout, but don't make much ground, but somehow retain the ball despite an apparent collapse to floor with Australia keeping the ball from being playable.

Five metre scrum for Los Teros.
11 minutes

Uruguay bring Nicolas Freitas off his wing and the number eleven nearly scythes through a gap in the Australia midfield, just about felled as he carries to within a metre of the line.

Uruguay knock-on at the breakdown, but Freitas was taken high and they will have the penalty.
PENALTY!
PENALTY!

A simple one for Felipe Berchesi, and Uruguay are on the board.

Australia 7-3 Uruguay
13 minutes

Adam Coleman is pinged for a high shot from the restart, and Mathieu Raynal send it upstairs to check if this will be anything beyond a penalty.
SIN BIN!
YELLOW CARD!

Adam Coleman is sent to the sin bin for the high tackle. HIs initial contact is on the shoulder but he has slipped up to the head, and Mathieu Raynal and TMO Ben Skeen are in agreement that the tackle warrants a yellow card. Australia down to 14 men for ten minutes.
