Rugby fans heading to Newcastle can park and ride from MetroCentre for £4

With thousands of rugby fans descending on Newcastle this weekend it could be difficult to find a parking space in the city centre.

If you are travelling to Newcastle from Northumberland, County Durham, Cumbria or further afield, it could be wise to consider taking advantage of a park and ride scheme at the MetroCentre.

With the MetroCentre being close to both the A1 and A69, it is easily accessible by car to many of those who are heading to St James' Park for the Challenge Cup and Heineken Champions Cup finals .

GO North East is running a park and ride service from the MetroCentre, where customers can park in the coach park and hop on a bus straight to Newcastle. The Coach Park is signposted from the A1 at the A184 junction.

The buses run every few minutes from three hours before each kick and until two hours after full time.

Return tickets cost £4.
