Rugby: East Kilbride youngsters win titles at Strathendrick tournament

The youngest of East Kilbride Rugby Club’s players enjoyed a profitable Sunday morning in the quaint farming village of Fintry – taking home the silverware at both P1/2 and P3 levels.

With the senior season over, the club’s youngsters have the chance to shine and the primary age groups seized their chance.

The Primary 1-2 group remained undefeated with wins over Hamilton, Lenzie and West of Scotland and a draw with Waysiders.

Aaron Greer top-scored, claiming a brace in each game, with George Frew, Sonny McIlhiney, Rhys Porterfield and Aidan Hogan also getting their names on the scoreboard.

Meanwhile, the P3 squad were also triumphant. They started slowly and could only manage a draw with the host club in their opener.

But the pace was upped in tie two, with Hillfoots on the receiving end of a 7-2 thumping. West of Scotland were a tough proposition in game three, EK taking it 5-3 after a thrilling encounter.
