Rudy’s confirms it’s opening in Didsbury and it’s giving away thousands of free pizzas

Rudy’s has confirmed it’s opening its new branch in Didsbury, and will be giving away ‘thousands’ of free pizzas to celebrate. You can sign up on the Rudy’s website for updates on the opening, and get the chance to ‘try our Neapolitan pizza on the house’.

The new branch will be on the site of the Mad Giant food hall on Wilmslow Road, and will be all set to open its doors in October. Locals spotted the licence application on the door of Mad Giant last month, which has been empty since 2020.

The Didsbury branch will seat 90, and feature a huge Stefano Ferrara oven, which can cook a pizza in 60 seconds. Martyn Williams, General Manager of Rudy’s Didsbury, said: “We look forward to becoming part of the community in Didsbury. We will open our doors this Autumn and the team cannot wait to serve our authentic Neapolitan pizza in this lovely neighbourhood.”

This will be the 13th Rudy’s branch, with other branches in Ancoats, Peter Street, Chorlton, Sale, and others in Leeds, Liverpool, Birmingham, Sheffield and Soho in London. There’s also another licence application for a third Manchester city centre site, in the unit that was formerly the Dawsons music store on Portland Street.

The first Rudy’s opened on Cutting Room Square in 2015, and quickly found queues snaking out of the door. Hospitality business Mission Mars, behind the likes of Gorilla and Albert’s Schloss, then bought it and have led its nationwide rollout.
