Rudimental win British single at 2014 Brits

Rudimental were tonight awarded British single at the O2 Arena for their drum'n'bass track Waiting All Night, with its brass-infused choruses and excitable beats. The Hackney quartet's single, taken from their debut studio album Home, was released in April of last year and features the vocals of 19-year-old British singer, Ella Eyres.

Having been trumped by Arctic Monkeys earlier in the evening in the British group category, this marks the group's first Brit, which was presented to them by Katy Perry.

Rudimental were also pipped to the Brit Awards post this time last year when their single, Feel the Love, featuring the vocals of John Newman, was beaten by Adele's Skyfall.

The victory of this rambunctious track marks a departure from the more sedate victors of the last two years in the British single category – prior to Adele's victory last year, One Direction won with What Makes You Beautiful in 2012.
