Leading jockey Ruby Walsh has announced his shock retirement from horse racing after riding a winner at Punchestown.
Walsh won the Punchestown Gold Cup on board Kemboy as he edged Cheltenham Gold Cup winner Al Boum Photo to the post.
The 39-year-old Irishman then stunned fans moments after the race by announcing his immediate retirement from the sport.
Walsh opted to choose Kemboy over two other Willie Mullins runners, justifying his decision by beating his stable-mate in the Grade One feature.
Kemboy came unstuck at the first fence at Cheltenham in March but made amends with a fine ride from Walsh in what looks set to be his last-ever appearance.
British raider Definitly Red disputed the early lead with the eventual winner, but it was a duel between the Mullins' runners turning for home.
Al Boum Photo was unable to go with Kemboy, who ran out a two-length victor with The Storyteller a further 22 lengths back in third.
Before announcing his retirement, Walsh said: "He jumped really well. He quickened and quickened and quickened - he has pace and stamina and has a real knack of jumping."
Walsh has enjoyed a remarkable career with over 2000 wins.
The champion jockey has been the leading jockey at the Cheltenham Festival 11 times and received the International Jockey of the Year Lester Award on three occasions.
He won the Grand National on board Papillon in 2000 and Hedgehunter in 2005, plus rode Kauto Star to two iconic Cheltenham Gold Cup wins in 2007 and 2009.
