Ruby Rose was 'risking paralysis' after Batwoman injury left her spinal cord 'close to severing'

Ruby Rose needed emergency surgery after an on-set stunt injury left her “risking paralysis” and with a spinal cord “close to severing”.

The Australian actor was on the set of her new superhero series Batwoman when she herniated two discs, leaving her with chronic pain and the inability to feel her arms.

Rose detailed her injuries on Instagram, alongside a graphic video showing her undergoing surgery.

“To everyone asking about my new Pez dispenser scar on my neck… A couple of months ago I was told I needed an emergency surgery or I was risking becoming paralysed,” Rose wrote in a comment.

“I had herniated two discs doing stunts, and they were close to severing my spinal chord,” she continued. “I was in chronic pain and yet couldn’t feel my arms.”

She went on to say that she is “forever in the debt” of her doctor. “Thank you for allowing me to keep working and doing what I love.”

Rose, best known for her roles in Orange is the New Black and The Meg, portrays Kate Kane, who assumes the title of Batwoman three years after the disappearance of her cousin Bruce Wayne and his alter ego Batman.

Batwoman debuts in the US this week.
