Meet thirteen year old American girl Ruby Redfort. She may seem like any other all-American girl, but she is a genius. At the age of eight, she made up a code that even Harvard professors struggled to crack. That's why when mysterious voices leave messages on her phone, and a fly symbol keeps popping up, it doesn't take ruby too long to discover Spectrum.
Spectrum is a top secret spy agency, and Ruby is about to become one of their newest recruits. But it isn't easy to keep her new profile away from her best friend, Clancy, who soon notices a change when Ruby's family get a new butler (ruby's bodyguard in disguise). Although Ruby's job is a desk agent looking for clues in a recently dead Agent Lopez's documents, she figures out that Lopez wanted a bit more of the action.
Back in Twinford, Ruby's parents are buzzing about the famous jade Buddha that is visiting Twinford City bank. Ruby finds a code and, together with Clancy, they discover enemies lurking around the corner and a plot to steal the jade Buddha at the stroke of midnight.
I really enjoyed this book as it is very cleverly written, because you feel you are finding the clues with Ruby. The plot has a lot of different stories included in it, which makes it unexpected and leaves you on the edge of your seat. I would recommend for ages 10+
