Rubio to Republicans: stop talking about Wikileaks

Florida Sen. Marco Rubio said he won't talk about emails revealed by Wikileaks and warned other Republicans that they shouldn't, either.

Rubio said that U.S. intelligence officials have said the leaks are an attempt by a foreign government to interfere with U.S. elections and he will not indulge in that.

"Further, I want to warn my fellow Republicans who may want to capitalize politically on these leaks: Today it is the Democrats. Tomorrow it could be us," he told ABC News.

The comments come as Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump, his surrogates and some down-ballot GOP candidates have cited alleged emails and documents revealed by Wikileaks that are damaging to Democrats and presidential candidate Hillary Clinton and .

"I will not discuss any issue that has become public solely on the basis of Wikileaks," Rubio said.

Rubio is currently running for re-election in Florida against Rep. Patrick Murphy. The most recent polls show Rubio with a slim lead over his challenger. Rothenberg & Gonzales Political Report/Roll Call rates the race Leans Republican.
