Ruben Rodrigues starts as Notts County boss Neal Ardley names team to face Barnet

Portuguese midfielder Ruben Rodrigues started his first game for Notts County this afternoon as boss Neal Ardley rang the changes for the visit of Barnet.

Rodrigues has featured in pre-season,  but this was his first competitive game for Notts after signing from Den Bosch in the summer. He replaced Jim O'Brien in midfield with the Scotsman dropped to the bench.

Elsewhere, Enzio Boldewijn was also drafted into the side for his first start of the campaign as he took the place of Wes Thomas who was among the substitutes.

In defence, Sam Graham came in for Alex Lacey while Damien McCrory came in for Richard Brindley as he slotted in at left-back following his recovery from injury.

The changes have been enforced by a hectic schedule for Notts who travel to Sutton United on Tuesday with Ardley determined to keep his squad as fresh as possible to cope with the congested fixture list.

Ardley had plenty of attacking options from the bench, with Thomas and Elisha Sam among the subs while Brindley, O'Lacey and O'Brien provided cover in midfield and defence should Ardley need reinforcements.
