Ruben Rodrigues set 'scabby' Notts County challenge after Yeovil heroics

Ruben Rodrigues scored both Notts County's goals in their 2-0 away to Yeovil Town as the Magpies bounced back from successive defeats.

The Portuguese put on a show at Huish Park as he added to his personal goal tally - he has now scored four in the past 10 games.

Head coach Ian Burchnall says he could have scored even more goals after posing a "constant threat" to the home side.

"(He) could have had more but great performance from him, on and off the ball I thought he defended very well," Burchnall told NottinghamshireLive.

"He found the spaces between the lines very well and was a constant threat so happy with him in goalscoring form."

Rodrigues' abilities on and off the ball may have earned praise but Burchnall also sent the 25-year-old a clear message ahead of upcoming fixtures.

"He's outstanding, he does the one where he fakes to shoot and then does the shot, he's so good but next thing I need him to do is when sometimes that's not on, just finish - he always scores a beautiful goal," the Notts boss added.

"The only other thing I need Ruben to start doing is scoring some other scabby goals, the tap-ins, but he always seems to finish a beautiful move and he can get even more when he starts getting on the end of the scrappy little ones as well."

Notts' focus will now turn to the FA Cup fourth qualifying round tie at Tamworth on Saturday (3pm).
