Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek has provided fans with an insight into his injury rehabilitation via posts on his Instagram account.
The 23-year-old suffered a ruptured archilles tendon in the friendly against New England Revolution, causing him to miss the Europa League final victory against London rivals Arsenal in Baku in May.
The England man underwent surgery following the injury, and is now beginning to step up his rehabilitation. Although he is not expected to be able to play in the opening Premier League games of the season, with anything as late as November being mentioned for the Chelsea man's possible return date.
Before his injury, Loftus-Cheek was establishing himself as an integral member of Maurizio Sarri's first team squad, having made 15 Premier League appearances in a row, but will have to wait a bit longer to make his debut under new head coach Frank Lampard.
Posting on his Instagram story, the midfielder has shown pictures of him walking without any aid for the first time since the injury occurred , and doing work in the gym.
The 23-year-old is reportedly close to signing a new deal at Stamford Bridge, which will keep him at the Blues for the foreseeable future.
The Chelsea academy graduate will have Callum Hudson-Odoi alongside him for some of his rehabilitation as his England teammate suffered the same injury in the Premier League match against Burnley in April. Unlike Loftus-Cheek, the 18-year-old is hoping to be recovered in time for the Premier League opener against Manchester United on August 11th.
