Ruben Loftus-Cheek offers injury update as Chelsea midfielder steps up recovery

Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek has given an injury update as he steps up his recovery from Achilles injury that he picked up in the friendly against New England Revolution.

He has since been working to get back to action as soon as possible for the Blues. Although he is yet to make an appearance under Frank Lampard, he is stepping up his recovery.

The England man was absent from Chelsea's latest training session ahead of the Champions League game against Ajax, but he has insisted that he is close to a return to first team action.

"It’s going well!" He told Versus when asked about his recovery from injury.

"It’s been a long time and I’ve had a few setbacks as well. It’s never been just a straight path but I’m close now…I’ve been running and moving, I feel I’m right on the edge. I’m close and I can’t wait."

Loftus-Cheek was having a positive season for Chelsea before picking up the injury at the end of the season, which caused him to miss the Europa League final against Arsenal.

Mason Mount: We want to win trophies, we want to be top of the league

"That one hurt me, man," he added.

"To be a part of that campaign all the way through and play my most minutes in that competition, only to miss out on the final, was devastating but I have to move on, I can’t wait to come back stronger."
