Ruben Loftus-Cheek gives injury update to Chelsea fans as he eyes return

It has been a frustrating season for Ruben Loftus-Cheek as he continues to recover from his serious injury.

The 24-year-old ruptured his Achilles’ tendon in May during the post-season friendly against New England Revolution.

After a couple of set-backs, the midfielder is still yet to make a first team appearance this season, playing just three times for the Development Squad.

Loftus-Cheek managed 60 minutes in his first game back, before completing a full 90 minutes and then another 45 minutes.

However, with the season currently on hiatus, his return to first team action is going to take even longer.

The first team squad are currently in self-isolation due to Callum Hudson-Odoi having tested positive for coronavirus last week.

Each player has been given a personal training regime to keep themselves fit for when the season eventually returns.

That includes Loftus-Cheek and he took to Instagram to post the latest update on his injury recovery, including skipping in his back garden.

He added: "Skipping has been great for my Achilles since my injury. Regaining that bounce/stiffness. I’ll keep working on it."

Loftus-Cheek is hoping that he will be fully fit when the season starts up again an so he can play some part in the run in.
