Ruben Dias' transfer values double after superb Man City season

Manchester City defender Ruben Dias has seen his transfer value double following an impressive debut season in the Premier League, a new study states.

The 23-year-old has been a staple in Pep Guardiola's side this season, filling the defensive void that was left open from Vincent Kompany's previous exit, and has helped propel City to within touching distance of the Premier League title.

Dias' contributions have been hailed as a key reason for City's resurgence, following a disappointing campaign last season where the league title was conceded to Liverpool.

The Portugal international is among the leading contenders to be named Player of the Season in the Premier League, with his performances widely recognised as being decisive.

Now, a new study from BettingOdds.com has concluded that Dias' transfer value has doubled following his debut campaign in English football.

Transfer fees were not taken into consideration, with the focus instead being the transfer value as stated by Transfermarkt last summer and compared to their current amounts.

Last year, when his move to City occurred, Dias was valued at a figure of £31.5m - and his rise to £63m means that his value has doubled.

Dias' finishes ahead of West Ham midfielder Tomas Soucek, Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins and Leicester City defender Wesley Fofana in the rankings for the most increased value.

Chelsea's Edouard Mendy, Villa's Emiliano Martinez and Matty Cash, Tottenham's Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Wolves' Fabio Silva and Leeds United's Illan Meslier complete the list of the top 10.

Dias has been a mainstay for City this season, featuring in 28 of the 32 Premier League matches played so far this season.
