RTE weather presenter Nuala Carey opens up on love life and says she'd be 'uncomfortable dating right now'

RTE weather girl Nuala Carey said that since appearing on Derek Mooney’s show Searching For Mr Right everyone is obsessed with her love life - but the beauty insists she’s still single.

The 43-year old Dublin native said everyone asks her about her love life.

Nual said: “Everyone asks me, don’t worry, I’m not annoyed.

“I think I’m asked all the time because it’s not plainly obvious what my relationship status is.

“If you were interviewing Kathryn Thomas, you know she has a husband and the two girls, so it’s not a mystery.”

The RTE presenter said she’d be uncomfortable dating right now.

She said: “No. Sure listen, social distancing and dating don’t really go hand in hand.

“It’s just a bit of a dead end question because I don’t have anything to say.

“I’m not dating at the moment. I wouldn’t really feel comfortable dating at the moment.”

Hinting that there was someone special in the past, she said: “I could be married, but then maybe I wouldn’t be happily married. If I’m going to do it, I want to feel it will work out.

“If I had done it previous to now, I just don’t think it would have worked, it wouldn’t have been the right person for me and I wouldn’t do that to him.

“I just haven’t met the one.”

Having a partner does not define Nuala.

She said: “I would like to think for me that my life can still be whole even if I haven’t ticked that box and just because I haven’t ticked it now doesn’t mean I won’t.

“But if nothing changes, that’s OK too.”

She said she'd love to give Dancing With The Stars a shot if given the chance.

She said: “I haven’t been asked to do it but if I was, I’d be up for it.

“If anything, the last few years have made me realise that life isn’t a dress rehearsal. You have to give it your best shot. Anything can happen in life in a good and bad way.”

Losing her beloved dad Maurice to pancreatic cancer in 2018 has taught her not to sweat the small stuff.

Speaking to the RTE Guide, Nuala, who lives with her mum, said: “We talk about him all the time, which is great; it’s not a taboo subject in the house. We’ve lovely pictures of him around the place.

“I suppose it’s such a big experience that it can change you, but it can change you for the better and in fact, you really learn that your health is your wealth.

“Life is so fleeting and none of us know what’s ahead of us.

“So if it’s changed for me, it’s not to worry about the small things any more.”
