RTE viewers stunned by one contestant's incredible performance on Ireland's Fittest Family

Viewers were gripped by the latest episode of RTE's Ireland's Fittest Family which was praised by some as the broadcaster's "best show".

One contestant, 17-year-old Aoife O'Rourke from Galway, left fans of the show in disbelief after her performance.

The teenager managed to balance - from a height - on one leg for over 15 minutes in an incredible showing of strength and will power.

The young lady who has played county and provincial football with Galway and Connacht is the talk of social media after her performance.

Aoife Merrins-Gallagher tweeted: "Proud to be an ‘Aoife’ after watching the last 10 minutes of #IrelandsFittestFamily.

"Incredible strength & poise! Also hats off to producers - the graphics & tasks in this year’s series are top class."

Shane O'Connor said: "That effort from Aoife O'Rourke on the beam was unbelievable. Some strength and determination."

Another added: "Only episode one but I think I have my team for #irelandsfittestfamily. I think I I’d follow Aoife O’Rourke to war."

The show as a whole received huge praise with many saying it lightened their mood on a gloomy lockdown day.

Brian said on Twitter: "Literally THE best show that RTÉ produces is #IrelandsFittestFamily It’s gripping stuff. Those families are nothing short of amazing."

Sean Reidy adds: "Ireland’s Fittest Family is some show, to be fair to everyone involved. If any family finds themselves stuck for a member, let me put my name forward."

Derval O'Rourke, one of the team leaders, thank viewers for their kind words after the show.

She tweeted: "The reaction to @FittestFamily has been so great. Delighted people are enjoying it.

"Fair play to all the families & the massive amount of work that goes on in the background. I’m loving messages with peoples kids so excited
