RTE viewers praise Ultimate Hell Week celebs for their bravery in 'most terrifying task of the series'

Viewers of ‘Ultimate Hell Week - The Professionals’ have been praising the celebrity contestants for their bravery this week amid the dreaded ‘dead drops’.

Each recruit was made to lower themselves over the side of the bridge backwards before being dropped into mid-air, and viewers were squirming at the thought of doing it.

One wrote; ‘Dead drops have to be the most terrifying task in the series, it would be a firm no from me. Respect.’

Another said; ‘Fair play to them that's all I say!!’

A third wrote; ‘Hell Week stresses me out to bits but I can’t stop watching.’

Next up on the show this evening, recruits were suspended from a helicopter in pairs and flown up the shoreline at Mizen Head.

‘Hanging off a helicopter…..I’d be drawing the line there,’ said one fan of the show.

While another joked; ‘Hate the Dead drop, but I'd love a go swinging on a line under a helicopter, Helicopter looked fab...says she from the safety of her armchair.’

14 recruits remained this week; Jake Carter, Peter Stringer, Laura Nolan, Stephanie Roche, Ryan Andrews, Marc O'Neill, Niamh Cullen, Valerie Mulcahy, Deric Hartigan, Rory O’Connor, Andrew Trimble, Barry Murphy, Melanie Nocher, and Darran O’Sullivan.

The show is based on the actual exercises and tests currently used on the ARW selection course.

The Hell Week course instructors have designed tasks to test recruits' physical, emotional, and psychological resilience, and it is designed to break all but the toughest of individuals.

Each recruit represents a charity of their choice, so the longer they last, the more they will raise for their worthy cause.

If they fail to meet the standards, they will be asked to leave the course, and those who decide they can’t keep up simply have to D.O. (drop out) by handing in their number to the DS.

Ultimate Hell Week: The Professionals will return next Wednesday at 9.35 pm on RTE One.
