RTE viewers praise Late Late Show for new twist at start of program

RTE viewers praised the Late Late Show for switching up the sequences of the intro on Friday night and showing off the beauty Ireland has to offer.

The Friday night program kicked off with spectacular drone footage around the country from the city streets of Dublin to the green fields of the countryside.

Some viewers joked they were "emotional" looking at the lovely footage which was followed by the usual introduction from host Ryan Tubridy.

One viewer tweeted: "Lovely to hear that music and to see the beautiful footage of Ireland. I may be 8,630 kilometres from Dublin, but this clip made me happy.

"Go raibh maith agat, Ryan."

Paula Curtin added: "Stunning! Seriously looking forward to getting to spend some time anywhere that is 5km further than home. Bonus points if it’s by the Atlantic!"

Kieran O'Malley added: "Superb.... the #LateLate has been superb during the last year serious credit where it's due.

While another said: "Jesus that tune just struck the heart of me. In the old days, Gay Byrne, on Saturday night, #TheLateLateShow went on FOR EVER. Well, to this child anyway. And bored the pants of me."

And in more good news for Late Late viewers, you won't have to wait very long for the next episode.

For the first time ever, the Late Late Show will take place on a Wednesday, next week on March 17th.

Host Ryan Tubridy told listeners on his RTE Radio One programme on Friday morning: "There's a great sense of excitement about St Patrick's Day this year.

"I thought it might be reduced a little bit because of the things that are happening this year but actually I think people are more creative and more excited and more curious about how we're going to do this all.

"Obviously we have online Patrick's Day festivities happening around the place so that's really lovely and we'll be doing our Late Late Show St Patrick's Day special next Wednesday night which we're very excited about."
