RTE viewers full of praise for Kin star Charlie Cox's brilliant Irish accent

As the stakes get higher and higher in Kin, a large reason why the show has developed a following is due to the calibre of Irish actors involved in the project.

Granted, it's an Irish story but the likes of Ciaràn Hinds, Aidan Gillen, Emmett J Scanlan and Maria Doyle Kennedy have all starred in some of the world's biggest shows like Peaky Blinders, Game of Thrones, The Tudors, Dexter, The Wire and more.

However, whenever a non-Irish actor tries to perfect the Irish accent, there's always a keen interest because usually, they're rarely that good. Let's not mention the Wild Mountain Thyme fiasco again.

Granted, there have been some brilliant examples like James McAvoy (Inside I'm Dancing), Jim Sturgess (50 Dead Men Walking), Samantha Morton and Paddy Considine (In America) and Jon Voight (The General), but you can add the name of Charlie Cox to that list.

Granted, the star of Daredevil and Stardust has already some experience with an Irish brogue during his time as Owen Slater in Boardwalk Empire but his performance and vocal work as Mikey Kinsella in Kin has already impressed viewers.

"Charlie Cox has the best Irish accent I’ve heard on screen since Paddy Considine. Really nice performance so far," and "Charlie Cox’s Irish accent is every bit as good as they say. But also the Dublin persona and the mannerisms/movement. Nailed it. Best I’ve seen since Will Poulter in Glassland," were some of the comments made by impressed viewers.

Another added: "Had to double-check that Charlie Cox was actually Charlie Cox cos of the perfect Irish accent."

More impressed viewers said: "Between Boardwalk Empire and Kin, I can conclude that Charlie Cox does an impeccable Irish accent" and "I don't know if it's just that the bar is set so low for non-Irish actors doing Irish accents that my standards are low, but Charlie Cox's Dublin accent is excellent. I am swooning a little bit."

As for Cox's character Mikey, he's still desperately trying to connect with his estranged daughter Anna but right now, he's being tasked with the responsibility of keeping tabs on his brother Jimmy (Scanlan) who wants revenge after the death of his son.
