RTE Viewers call Davy Fitzgerald an 'utter gentleman' after Tommy Tiernan Show appearance

RTE viewers were full of praise for former Wexford and Clare manager Davy Fitzgerald after his appearance on Saturday's Tommy Tiernan Show.

Fitzgerald left his role as Wexford boss at the end of 2021 after a successful stint and is currently working with the Cork camogie team.

And the All-Ireland winning manager appeared on Saturday night's Tommy Tiernan Show and was praised by RTE viewers.

Speaking on the show, Fitzgerald spoke of his love of hurling, saying: "I love it. My dream. I was a six or seven year old kid and my first Clare game and he put me on top of his shoulders for the whole game and I was blown away and I saw the Clare goalie running away and I said I want to be him and I got that big and I couldn't shake it. "

And Fitzgerald said that although he is no longer involved in men's senior inter-county hurling he was happy to reflect on his time.

He said: "I'm certainly not at a loose end. I've had three great spells with Waterford, Clare and Wexford.

"For definite I'll miss the side line and rowing and fighting with someone...I don't think I'll be short, I'll be busy enough. "

And RTE viewers praised Fitzgerald, with one user saying: "After watching Davy on the #TommyTiernanShow. What an utter gentleman! Some man"

While another said: "Davy Fitz is an absolute legend. He has got a great personality."

While another added: "I love you Davy Fitz. Clare hurling gave me some of the best summers of my life and when I got a jersey it was the goalies one. The very best of days"
