Kellie Harrington was the darling of Dublin on Sunday morning as she secured only the 12th gold medal for Ireland at an Olympic games.
Harrington, 31, became the third Irish boxer in history to strike gold in the ring after Michael Carruth at Barcelona 1992 and Katie Taylor at London 2012.
It was also the second gold medal of these games for Team Ireland - the first time that feat was achieved since Pat O'Callaghan and Bob Tisdall were Olympic champions in the Los Angeles Games in 1932.
And bringing us through the way was RTE, with top analysis from Eric Donovan and Kenneth Egan.
However, the majority of the public leapt to praise one man in the aftermath - host Peter Collins.
Peter is an absolute veteran of sports broadcasting, with this being his eighth time reporting on an Olympic Games for RTE.
His enthusiasm shows no sign of stopping though, as could be seen on Sunday morning as Harrington's victory was announced.
And as the Games closed on Sunday afternoon, Collins was lauded by viewers and colleagues alike.
One man tweeted: "I don’t know Peter Collins but he seems like such a lovely and sound man. Humble and understated - especially when you compare him to presenters elsewhere. Was delighted by his delight this morning @RTEsport Thanks so much Peter for another job so well done @TeamIreland @rte."
Another added: "RTE's Olympic coverage was excellent, but a special word for Peter Collins ... not just super professional, but beautifully gauging the emotional side of things. Well done"
While a third said: "I remember Peter Collins presenting the music video show on RTÉ in his leather jacket many moons ago. He has long been under-utilised as a cool, professional presenter and I'm glad that he has taken the opportunity to show how good he is these last few weeks"
A fourth replied, saying: "Wonderful interview just now with Kellie Harrington on RTE when she saw the scenes at home for the first time. Peter Collins is a class broadcaster and has had a great Olympics."
