RTE viewers all have one Tommy Tiernan Show question after Gabriel Byrne interview

The tables were turned on Saturday night's Tommy Tiernan Show when guest Gabriel Byrne effectively turned host when seated across from the comedian.

RTE star Tommy's show is in its second week of the new series and is proving as popular as it did in previous runs.

Mentor Santis O’Garro and GAA legend Davy Fitzgerald were two of the guests on the show as well as Gabriel Byrne, who had most people talking.

Speaking about his career, the actor said: "I've learned more from failure than I ever learned from success.

“If I do a good film that’s a huge success, that's terrific. But if I look at a film that I did that's not successful, I learn much more. I've learned more from my mistakes, which is why I'm not afraid to admit them, than I ever had from anything that I would count as successful.”

But the actor soon turned the interview back on Tommy when he asked: "Let me ask yourself, do you think you're a strange man?”

The host replied: "There's a difference between me off stage and me on stage and it's not something that can be strictly defined or is a definite, fixed thing. It's moving all the time."

Reacting to the show, Philip Nolan said: "t’s great seeing Tommy Tiernan effectively being reverse interviewed by Gabriel ‘In Treatment’ Byrne. One studio. Two shrinks."

Another said: "Who's interviewing who here?"

Shane said: "Incredible interview Tommy Tiernan with Gabriel Byrne - not sure who’s interviewing who - it’s amazing - simplicity-and beautiful provocative discussion of intellectual brilliance.. Incredibly intriguing."
