RTE viewers agree one part of this year's Operation Transformation is 'breaking' their hearts

With Operation Transformation back on our screen viewers have been hooked each week to see how the contestants get on.

The RTE show challenges a group of leaders to lose weight and get fit over the course of a couple of weeks.

Despite the coronavirus pandemic disrupting production of so many TV shows Operation Transformation thankfully has been able to go ahead.

However the show runners have ensured that all coronavirus safety measures are being adhered to and this includes social distancing.

And fans have pointed out the new rules make it tough for presenter Kathryn Thomas to interact with the contestants this year.

One of the toughest elements of the show comes during the dreaded weigh in where they chart their progress each week.

While this is often a moment of joy for many if they meet their target there are times when some fall short.

And some of the leaders can get very emotional as a result.

One viewer has now pointed out that this is made even harder this year as they cannot be comforted by host Kathryn Thomas who usually offers a bit of support each week.

The viewer wrote on Twitter: "@OpTranRTE & its really breaking my heart when the leaders are getting upset at weigh in and have too just stand there...alone some strength from @gokathrynthomas not to throw her arms around them."

Meanwhile Kathryn Thomas revealed this week the Operation Transformation team have been working through heartbreak after the sad passing of a former leader.

Sarah O'Callaghan, 30s, who appeared on the show in 2018, sadly passed away last Tuesday after a long battle with cancer.

After taking a break from social media to cope with the news, host Kathryn revealed the show have been ‘floored’ with the loss behind the scenes, and are planning to pay tribute to the late leader tomorrow.
