The Sunday Game panel agreed that Sean O'Shea was within his rights to go all-out for the rebound to his penalty towards the end of the first half between Kerry and Dublin.
While most viewers felt the ball was there to be struck and any contact on Comerford's head from O'Shea's left foot was incidental, there were some who expressed that O'Shea should have seen red for dangerous play.
Chief amongst those was co-commentator Kevin McStay but when the panel of Colm Cooper, Colm O'Rourke and Ciarán Whelan reviewed the incident at half-time, they agreed a red card would have been overly harsh.
Colm Cooper said: "It's a poor penalty which he'll be disappointed. He followed it up then by taking a swing at it but I think he had to go for it as the ball was there.
"But look, it's a big opportunity lost for Kerry as that would've really put them in a strong position."
Now of course, Gooch could be accused of bias but in fairness Dublin great Whelan had no real issue with it either.
He added: "I'd say it's the power and force that he went with it. The ball does break free and he goes in with a very, very strong foot.
"But he does strike the ball first and I think it's the follow-through more that hurts Evan."
A number of players then got involved in pushing and shoving as things turned ugly in front of the Davin Stand.
Dublin's Eoin Murchan and Kerry's Paul Geaney both picked up yellow cards for their involvement in the minor brawl.
Needless to say plenty of people had lots to say on the incident.
One said: "Was the ball not there to be kicked on the rebound? Yeah a free out as a result of follow through from momentum bit nothing more. Load of hand bags. Good save for the penalty though."
Another commented: "The amount of pulling and dragging both off and on the ball in the Kerry v Dublin match is not a good look."
Someone else tweeted: "Don't see what all the fuss was about from Dublin players??? keeper didn't have possession so Kerry player well within his right to pull on it."
But another fan argued: "Seanie O'Shea got off lightly there."
