RTE star Teresa Mannion celebrates with family member after major GAA victory

RTE reporter Teresa Mannion is in celebration mode after one of her family members had a major victory on Saturday.

Mannion, who went viral in December of 2015 for her reporting on Storm Desmond, made a completely necessary journey to Croke Park to take in some of the GAA action.

Why? Because her nephew was part of the Meath panel in the All-Ireland Minor Football final against Tyrone.

John Mannion played a crucial role in getting the Royals to the decider when he fired in a goal against Sligo in the semi-final.

And though he didn't make an appearance on Saturday's final, he still had plenty to celebrate after Shaun Leonard's late point handed Meath the All-Ireland crown for the first time since 1992.

And he managed to find his aunt in the crowd afterwards to get this glorious snap.

The two sides traded scores in the opening minutes before a Cormac Devlin goal gave the Red Hand an upper hand.

However, Meath rallied in the second quarter as Leonard replied to the goal before full forward Oisin O Murchu rattled the net to put them back in it.

The rivals continued to trade blows for the rest of the half as the lead changed hands several times, but a late Hughie Corcoran free ensured Meath went in 1-07 to 1-06 ahead at the break.

It was a sloppy third quarter as Tyrone levelled proceedings, but Meath reaffirmed their grip on the game heading into the final quarter thanks to two 45's from 'keeper Oisin McDermott as well as momentum-building O Murchu and Corcoran points.

They lead 1-11 to 1-08 at the second water break, but were still facing Tyrone pressure as the Red Hand pressed up high on their defenders.

And a Tyrone onslaught followed as points from Ruairi McHugh and Ronan Cassidy points reduced Meath's advantage to the minimum heading into the final two minutes.

Tyrone thought they were heading for extra-time after they levelled it with a late free, but wing forward Leonard proved the hero as he scored the winner deep into added time.
