RTE star Ryan Tubridy teases massive Late Late Toy Show appeal announcement

RTE star Ryan Tubridy has teased that a massive announcement will be made tomorrow in relation to the Late Late Toy Show appeal and the funds it raised towards the end of 2020.

The Toy Show is consistently the most-watched show every year on Irish TV, with last year's Covid-safe edition being no different.

During the spectacular show, an appeal fund was set up to help those most in need, and viewers responded in an amazing way.

In total, over €6.5 million was raised by the public - and now Ryan has hinted where that will go, or at least when we'll find out.

Taking to his Instagram story before his RTE Radio One show on Thursday morning, Ryan said: "Just to let you know that today, we'll be putting the finishing touches to a big announcement about the Late Late Toy Show appeal.

"You donated €6.5 million to help children across the country and where that money is going will be announced tomorrow and it is beautiful".

The Dubliner has had a busy week, but he took time out of his radio show to heap praise on an Irish institution.

On Tuesday, he opened his radio show with a pondering on Ireland’s Own, the 119-year-old magazine, which is sent to him weekly.

“The strange thing about getting copies of Ireland’s Own sent in to me…is that it’s the gift that keeps on giving,” he declared to his listeners.

As they heard him flicking through the current edition he continued: “And I look at a couple of pages and go, ‘oh that looks interesting,’ as in a quiz page for kids, a bit of history there, random lyrics to a Frank Sinatra song - it is so full of things I didn’t know.”

To prove his point he shared a story from the magazine with his audience about the last survivor of the 1905 Mutiny on the Russian Battleship Potemkin.
