RTE star Ryan Tubridy has told how he was brought to tears by children performing for this year's Late Late Toy Show.
The veteran host, 47, explained to his Radio One listeners that he hadn't cried in a long time, but that a group of children singing showed to him ahead of the show was 'beautiful'.
He told his listeners: “I haven’t shed a tear for a long time.
“I’m not really a crier. I tend to cry when it’s really called for. I don’t tend to turn them on.
“Yesterday, the Toy Show people showed me something.
“I didn’t know where to look because I’m Irish and I’m a man.
“It was this scene that involved children from around the world of Irish heritage and who are from Ireland.
“They were singing a song, I can’t tell you too much.
“It was so emotional and so beautiful.”
Tubridy’s mind was drawn to the perspective of grandparents who may not be able to see their grandchildren depending on how things go in December.
He added: “I was thinking of the grandparents who aren’t going to see these gorgeous children for the first time in a long time or maybe ever.
“The whole pandemic came down on top of me in one go.
“I’m hopeful today when I see the headlines about the vaccine because if you’re not hopeful, they're miserable.
“It was very emotional footage I was looking at of these kids.”

Dubliner Tubs did some dancing on Monday night and promised that the Toy Show will be "like no other".
He said: “Then I had to go and film a deep, intense bit of dancing which I haven’t done for a long time.
“I think what we did in the last 24 hours will bring great excitement and colour for Toy show night.
“It is a Toy Show like no other because of the pandemic.
“It is a knockout.
“I hope I didn’t get a cold, I know it sounds whingey but the circumstances under which we were working were meteorologically intense.”
