Late Late Show viewers were treated to a spectacular line-up in last Friday's show.
Host Ryan Tubridy welcomed Irish actor Robert Sheehan, comedy legend Billy Connolly and fan-favourite hosts of Ireland’s Fittest Families to the RTE studio.
However some viewers were left divided after one particular line of questioning from Tubs, RSVP Live reports.
Billy Connolly made a remote appearance from his home in Florida to reflect on his long-lasting and successful 50 year career in comedy.
He also opened up about his personal life and what it’s like living with Parkinson’s disease, a condition he was diagnosed with in 2013.
Many viewers took to social media to share their discomfort and anger over the types of questions put to the Scottish man.
One person said: “Ffs #LateLateShow Why ask older people about their mortality? Isn’t is tough enough to get old - let’s ask them about their life and all the wisdom they’ve collect3d along the way.”
Another person wrote: “Ryan: tell me, how do you feel about dying Billy? Can you explain to the audience the heart ache and nightmares of your soon to be death?”
However, there were people who reminisced about Billy and remembered his incredible comedy acts from their childhood.
One person recalled: “Even if he did a live gig, I never would go see Billy Connolly live again. The first time I saw him, my stomach went into spasm from laughing and I thought I was going to die.”
A second viewer commented: “Nobody has ever made me laugh like Billy. Nobody. When I was small my bedtime was 9pm but if Billy was on the #LateLate my Dad would wake me and I’d be allowed down just to watch Bill and howl. Then straight back to bed. Wonderful memories. My dad whispering “hey, Billy’s on!”
Other parts of the show were big hits too, including Umbrella Academy star Robert Sheehan with his skirt and flip-flops.
One Late Late viewer shared: “I like him! He is just the right amount of couldn't give a shit what people think and craic. Fair play to him.”
Another person wrote: “#robertsheehan in sandals at the end of October is giving me all the feels”.
A commenter person said: “You f****ers made me put on the #LateLateShow to Robert Sheehan. He seems completely normal to me! He's lovely. I also hate pants.”
