RTE’s Maura Derrane revealed she got the fright of her life this week as she found herself being charged at by a bull at home in Inis Mor.
The Today host has been spending the summer with her son Cal back on her native island as usual, before she heads back to the screens for another busy season in September.
But her followers didn’t know whether to laugh or cry this week when she shared footage of herself “nearly getting attacked by a bull”.
The RTE presenter recorded the event, and told how herself and her uncle Pádraig were trying to move a bull out of a field on the island and into another.
Showcasing the beautiful country landscape behind her, she said: “So we’re going to try to get a bull out of a field, and he’s not going to want to go. There’s my uncle helping”.
However, things took a turn when the bull spotted her nearby, with her phone in her hand still filming.
Maura’s uncle can be heard telling her to stay where she was during the clip before the bull began to charge at her.
Armed with a stick, the mum-of-one tried to ward the animal off with noises, before screaming for help and making a great escape to the nearest fence.
The panicked presenter even shouts "oh s**t Pádraig!" as she tries to climb a gate to get away from the animal in the video.
She said: “The bull is coming my way, I’m trying to stop him. The bull is running at me. Help!”
The popular TV host confirmed she is okay after the incident, but admitted it was ‘scary’ and reminded her to be more cautious in future.
