RTE star Marty Whelan says there's a 'possibility' Winning Streak will return

RTE star Marty Whelan has teased Winning Streak could return this autumn.

The show, hosted by Marty and Sinead Kennedy, has been on hiatus for over a year due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

But, Marty teased that with the country starting to reopen again slowly, we could see Winning Streak return to Rte this autumn.

Speaking on his Lyric FM show, Marty said: “Now we’re talking about the counties opening, Winning Streak is very much a possibility as well, please god.”

However, an insider said it was “too early” to discuss the fate of the hit money-winning show.

Winning Streak halted production on March 7 last year, days before Tanaiste Leo Varadkar announced widespread school closures and work-from-home measures to curb the spread of Covid-19.

Sinead Kennedy and Marty Whelan could return this autumn with Winning Streak (Rte)

Host Sinead, who is now on maternity leave from the Today Show, told at the time: "It feels strange to be at home* watching telly instead of being in studio making telly this evening.

"But this is the situation I find myself in for the foreseeable future...just in case you haven’t heard, the remainder of the Winning Streak shows for this season have been postponed.

"Of course, I’ll miss meeting new contestants each week and giving away a ton of money but mostly I’ll miss the craic with Marty. I’ll just have to tune into him on Lyric FM in the mornings to get my fix like the rest of you."
