RTE sensationally axes Dancing with the Stars' spin-off show Can't Stop Dancing

RTE has sensationally axed Dancing with the Stars' spin-off show Can't Stop Dancing.

The programme provided a behind-the-scenes look at the hit reality TV show and was fronted by Blathnaid Treacy.

And after much speculation it has now been confirmed that the spin-off will not return for a fourth season after Christmas, RSVP Live reports.

Blathnaid told the Irish Mail on Sunday: "I'm disappointed that CSD isn't coming back, I had an amazing three years fronting the show, but due to very tight budgets it won't be back.

"I'll still be tuning in every Sunday to watch, it's such an incredible production and I'm proud to have been part of it."

Shinawil boss Larry Bass said that Can't Stop Dancing needed to be shelved in order to ensure the sensational return of the main show in 2020.

The national broadcaster is currently in the midst of financial difficulties, meaning that some presenters and shows are being removed from screens over the next few months.

Bass said: "We shall miss Can't Stop Dancing, but with the ongoing pressures on RTÉ revenues, there had to be some way of finding revenue for the main show.

"It is sad that fans of the show will not get to share the backstage elements, but watch out for social around the series, we are ramping up this up with RTÉ social."

Nicky Byrne and Jennifer Zamparelli will return to front Dancing with the Stars in January.

The line-up is expected to be announced in December.
