RTE's Tommy Tiernan Show viewers all saying the same thing about Ardal O'Hanlon and Ciaran Bolger

As always, viewers of the Tommy Tiernan Show were quick to heap praise on the latest episode of the hit series.

The now iconic programme has an unusual format, where neither the host nor the audience knows who the guests are.

And last night Tommy was joined by the brilliant Ardal O'Hanlon, best known for playing Dougal on Father Ted.

Asked if he had any favourite moments from the show, Ardal said: "God I've so many favourite Ted moments...

"There's one I just love, and it comes on a closing title sequence. There was an all priests sports day and all the priests end up in a big fight at the end.

"And Dougal does something really out of character, and he does the boldest thing he's every done in his life."

Standing up to give Tommy and the viewers at home an example, he explained: "They're all fighting and Dougal is looking on and he's kind of shocked. Then he just goes over and kicks someone and runs away."

Ardal admitted that he wouldn't sit down to watch the iconic programme, but that if it came up on the TV he sometimes lingers to see a particular moment.

"I'm always struck at how unprofessional I am. I'm always laughing in the background," he said.

And the viewers at home were absolutely loving it.

Fans were also blown away by a rock n roll loving brain surgeon from Dublin who appeared on the show last night.

Neurosurgeon Professor Ciarán Bolger left those watching at home stunned at his amazing life.

The top medic told Tommy how he struggled to choose between a career as a doctor or a pilot, eventually settling on the former.

But he later managed to get his pilot's licence - and when he's not doing all of that he fronts his own rock band and plays his Xbox.

Viewers took to Twitter in their droves to heap praise on both the guest and the host.

One woman wrote: "Ciarán Bolger fascinating on #tommytiernanshow , as a someone who has endured neurosurgery, these amazing surgeons never cease to amaze me. So grateful for their dedication and talent."

Ciaran revealed he listens to rock music while performing surgery although one former patient said he couldn't remember hearing any tunes.

He wrote: "@Tommedian interview with Dr. Ciaran Bolger was excellent, two geniuses in conversation, could have listened to them for hours.

"He did my op. in 2009 and while I don't remember the rock music, I haven't looked back since."

A third added: "2001, 4am in the morning, Beaumont Hospital, after a Brain aneurysm. Dr Ciaran Bolger operated on me. Saved my life that man. Fact."
