RTE's Tommy Tiernan Show end date update after another hugely popular episode airs

RTE's Tommy Tiernan Show has just one instalment left in the series with the popular show set to take a break after next Saturday.

The country's most watched chat show was originally scheduled to end back towards the end of February but was extended until mid-April.

Speaking at the time of the extension, an RTE spokesperson said: “The Tommy Tiernan Show on RTÉ One has been extended by 6 additional weeks bringing the series to a total of 16 weeks.

"The final episode will air on Saturday 17th April.

“It is a much loved show and the love on social media for it and Tommy every weekend is constant."

It comes after fans of the show said they were hoping the program "never ends" following another entertaining and informative episode on Saturday night.

Tiernan, Ireland's current talk show king, brought on another mix of guests from Robbie Lawlor speaking about his HIV positive life, Peter McVerry and Tommy's honest chat and funeral directors David and Brid Gowan.

And viewers took to social media after the show to shower it in praise, with most agreeing that it's Ireland's best chat show at this moment in time.

Many also agree that non-celebrities are making the show a more entertaining watch.

Damien Storan tweeted: "My god this show is so good. It needs to never stop airing. Every day ordinary people with fascinating lives are FAR more interesting than celebrities. The ultimate in relatability."

Eithne Shorthall said: "Jesus, but I love this show. I am utterly charmed by @Robbie_Lawlor and I am learning so much."

Hurling personality Buff Egan said: "Tommy Tiernan is absolutely Brilliant. Hands down, the Best chat show on Irish TV. Every day ordinary people with fascinating lives are FAR more interesting than celebrities."

Carina Breheny added: "God this is the best programme #tommytiernanshow I think the lack of audience has enhanced it. It's just like they're chatting in the snug of a pub."
