RTE’s Sinead Kennedy said she is ‘overcome with happiness’ as she announced the birth of her baby girl.
The Cork born presenter, 37, revealed she is settling into life as a new mother after welcoming a baby girl named Indie with husband Conor Kirwan this week.
Sharing a black and white image of her husband carrying their little girl out of hospital in a carrier, she said: “Home a few days now and settling into life with the little one.
“Indie Kirwan is the most precious thing to have ever happened to us.
“We’re overcome with happiness and are feeling extremely grateful.
“We’ll love you forever baby girl.”
The Winning Streak host, who has also joined the RTE Today show team this season went on to thank the staff at Cork University Maternity Hospital for their care.
She said: “Thank you so much to the incredible staff @CUMH for looking after us both so well.”
Sinead was seven months pregnant when she decided to announce her baby news, admitting that she wanted to keep it to her and her loved ones for as long as possible.
"It was easy at the start and I didn’t tell anybody for a myriad of reasons.
“I told work, they hadn’t copped it which I was surprised at because I was five months pregnant at that stage,” she told RSVP of the decision.
She went on: "I wasn’t comfortable sharing the news, it was for my friends and family and I wanted to keep it private for as long as possible."
Sinead joined RTÉ's Today Show back in September after Maura Derrane took a step back from her presenting role.
She is currently being covered by longtime pal and colleague Bláthnaid Treacy on RTE Today Show.
Meanwhile, Rachel Allen, Úna Healy and Elaine Kinsella are set to fill her shoes next month, with Daithi O’Se on RTÉ One.
