RTE's Ryan Tubridy reveals he won't be on radio on Friday, drops tantalising Late Late Show hint

RTE Ryan Tubridy left fans disappointed this morning after revealing he won't be appearing on radio tomorrow – but he softened the blow with a tantalising explanation for his absence.

The Dubliner concluded his radio show today by telling listeners he won't be in the hotseat tomorrow morning for his regular slot on RTE radio.

The reason? "I'm spinning 500 plates for the Late Late Show, and I have to film my derrière off," said Tubs.

"So forgive me for that departure from the scene in the morning."

Oliver Callan will take over from Tubridy tomorrow morning, delivering the show's usual mix of light-hearted news and heartwarming discussion and reprising a role he took on last week when Tubs vanished for five days to take a break ahead of the Late Late Toy Show.

Today, Tubridy was quick to reassure crestfallen listeners, reminding them: "I'll be with you on Monday morning, at 9am, and all the way up to pretty much Christmas Eve.

"So that's all good."

As well as revealing his plate-spinning plans, Tubs also disclosed a trio of high-profile guests who'll be appearing on tomorrow night's Late Late Show.

Tomorrow night will see a star-studded cast of celebs descend on the famous couch – with Gabriel Byrne, Andrea Bocelli and Conan O'Brien leading the lineup.

"The Late Late Show tomorrow includes the great Conan O'Brien – looking forward to talking to him, I have to say," the Dubliner told fans on Instagram.

He added that the show will also host Italian opera legend Andrea Bocelli, who will be singing on the programme as well as sitting down for a chat.

Irish acting great Gabriel Byrne – billed by Tubridy as "one of our finest actors" – completes the trio of early announcements.

And, Tubs added, "that's just for starters."
