RTE's Ryan Tubridy promises 'beautiful' Late Late Toy Show ahead of ad premiere this evening

RTE's Ryan Tubridy has turned public excitement all the way up to 90 ahead of the hotly anticipated premiere of the Late Late Toy Show's official advert.

The advert, which will air for the first time on RTE's Six One News tonight, will fire the starting gun on a Toy Show like no other amid Ireland's ongoing Covid-19 struggle.

And the 47-year-old was quick to talk up the advert this afternoon, calling it "beautiful" in a social media post.

"And so it begins," a beaming Tubs said on Instagram.

The Toy Show host was absent from his regular radio slot last week as preparations continue ahead of an "epic" Toy Show – with Tubridy promising he and the team are "putting more effort and more love into this thing than you can imagine."

"I'm not with you next week – I'm taking a few days to regroup with the Toy Show coming up," Tubs said ahead of his sabbatical.

"It's going to be epic, and I really want to be match fit for it."

The Toy Show will air on Friday, November 27 at 9.35pm, despite fears among some members of the public that the coronavirus pandemic might force a halt.

Responding to a concerned listener on radio last month, Tubs said: "You've got to tell her that this is 100% happening.

"Me and all my friends, and not to mention a few elves, have been working pretty hard."

Tubridy has been stoking public interest for months ahead of the big night, dropping a number of tantalising hints about what the night might look like.

One of the biggest questions hovering over the Toy Show every year is its theme – and the mischievous Tubs has brought fans on a rollercoaster ride with a string of teasers about what it might look like this year.

We've had suggestions of a face mask-themed show, as well as Minions and the Wizard of Oz.
