RTE's Ryan Tubridy has promised that this week's Late Late Show will be "fun" after a number of Covid filled episodes recently.
Host Tubs said on his radio show on Tuesday morning that the show will be an upbeat chat show this week with Dave Grohl one of the guests.
He said: "On Friday we are turning up the funometer, and bringing a bit of joy to the world and chatting to a guy called Dave Grohl from the Foo Fighters...I'll tell you more about that in the coming days.
"But we've got a really busy, fun Late Late for you this Friday."
The Dubliner's comments come after many criticised the programme last week for being overly-negative and filled with Covid-19 chats, while many wanted some escapism.
David Cuddy tweeted after last week's show: "Week in, week out, stories of death, illness, sorrow and heartbreak in #latelateshow. There is absolutely a time and place for it but just for once in a Friday night, give us something to take our mind off wall to wall, 24/7 coverage of Covid. We badly need it."
Philip Byrne added: "Get that it is incredibly important to highlight Covid and the losses people have suffered but there is a reason the Toy Show was the most watched and praised in years. People are looking for something lighthearted on a Friday night."
While Colin Devitt said: "The personal tragedies of COVID are awful. But again people need some escape. Some relief. The #LateLateShow is a light entertainment show. The nation needs to smile. To laugh. Maybe there is another vehicle for these stories? In no way disrespecting the people being named here."
