RTE's Ryan Tubridy gives insight into Roy Keane behind the scenes as he delights in Cork man joining Instagram

Ryan Tubridy was left in stitches reacting to Irish football legend Roy Keane joining Instagram.

The Cork man and Manchester United legend took the social media platform by storm opening an account on Instagram on Friday.

And he wasted no time in delighting his new followers with a number of posts.

In his first post a photo shows Keane smiling as he poses with his dog as he commented on it: "A man’s best friend."

However it was Valentines Day post that got a lot of people talking including RTE host Ryan.

Speaking on his RTE Radio One programme Tubs said: "Did you see Roy Keane has joined Instagram?

"He's already got a million followers. There's something about Roy Keane in the last number of years. He's completely mellowed.

"He probably always had a sense of humour but he hit it well and he just seems to be embracing the bit of craic.

"So his first picture was him with his dog saying man's best friend.

Laughing Tubs then said: "And his second post was on Valentines Day which was a photo of himself back in the day fighting with two players in his Nottingham Forrest days with the caption don't forget to show some love today."

"I mean that's funny so he's obviously having a bit of fun on Instagram."

Tubs also heaped praise on the former Ireland international for the fun the pair had during a segment on the Late Late Show.

Paul McGrath, Ian Wright and Andy Cole were among the former footballers to welcome Keane to Instagram.

McGrath said: "Welcome to the madness pal."

Manchester United commented: "This is going to be good."

Ian Wright posted four love heart emojis, while Andy Cole posted: "Love it skip."

Sky Sports presenter David Jones added: "Welcome ... this could be interesting."
