RTE's Ryan Tubridy gives heartfelt thanks to Late Late Show band member's mother for handmade gift

RTE's Ryan Tubridy took to his Instagram stories on Tuesday to thank a member of the Late Late Show band's mother for a very thoughtful gift she had made him.

Ryan looked delighted as he posed, wearing the stunning orange and grey scarf paired with a grey herringbone coat as he thanked the woman for her kind gift.

He said: "Enormous thanks to Late Late saxophonist Ali's mammy, Catherine, who thought I looked cold outdoors on the show one night and knitted me this glorious Dr. Who/Sherlock scarf!"

Ryan is currently on holiday from his RTE radio show this week, with Baz Ashmawy taking over his 9am slot for the time being.

However, Ryan is expected to make his return to the airwaves next week.

Baz confirmed this on Tuesday show, saying: "Welcome to the Ryan Tubridy Show, I'm Baz Ashmawy, and I'm filling in for Tubs. I'll be keeping his seat warm until he gets back next week.

"And I very much hope you will keep me company today and for the rest of the week."

The first Late Late Show of 2022 will also return to screens on Friday night, with Ryan sure to take up his post to bring some lively entertainment.

After becoming a close contact, he was forced to take some time off work in the run-up to the show.

Oliver Calnan took the broadcasters place initially, saying: "You weren't expecting it, but neither was I, I can tell you that.

"It is the last day of school officially on the Tubridy Show, and your headmaster or ringmaster Ryan was looking forward to being here to bring you all towards the Crimbo.

"Only he joins the tens of thousands of unlucky punters out there who have been pinged as close contacts.

"That means you don't come to work, so I'm here in his stead, and it's very widely common, you may not have Covid, but the HSE send you the message.

"They say 'someone who you may or may not know, you are a close contact with that person who has tested positive'.

"So Ryan is now a member of that growing gigantic community who have had their Christmasses upended all of a sudden."
