RTE's Ryan Tubridy blown away by Late Late Toy Show hero Adam King after leg break

RTE's Ryan Tubridy has admitted he was blown away by Toy Show star Adam King's good attitude after his leg break.

Little Adam, six, stole the hearts of the nation late last year when his virtual hugs grabbed all the headlines during the Late Late Toy Show.

But his dad announced on Monday morning that the Cork boy, who has brittle bones, took a fall over the weekend and was left with a broken femur.

Adam is now back at home in good spirits with thousands of messages from people all over Ireland wishing the boy well, and Tubs revealed he had a chat with him.

Ryan told listeners on his RTE Radio One show this morning: "I must say that boy is not of this world, even chatting to him and his good humour with this fracture.

"He thought that there might have to be surgery but there doesn't have to be so he's got the better end of that injury. What a beautiful family.

"Adam in flying form and ready for school again hopefully next Monday along with everyone else.

"I was delighted to talk to him as I promised.

"As I often do when I'm meeting kids, we make a deal to be friends for life.

"Then we go our separate ways but it's true.

"So that was lovely."

Since the news broke there has been an outpouring of messages from people on social media sharing their 'virtual hugs' - which Adam made famous.

Irish artist Shane Gillen shared an adorable snap of the two together, writing: "Spent Easter in the presence of greatness as I’m working with Adam King on a super exciting (secret) project.

"If his legendary status was ever in doubt, this pic was taken not long after Adam had a little accident at home and sadly broke his femur bone.

"Huge things coming for Adam in 2021, get better soon champ!"

Cork camogie star and Ireland's Fittest Family coach Anna Geary added: "Sending a virtual hug to Adam at the moment xxx"

Broadcaster Maia Dunphy added: "Sending love and best wishes to you all."

Meanwhile, RTE funnyman Carl Mullan wrote: "Time for all of us to send Adam a virtual hug."
