RTE's Ryan Tubridy has said he was surprised by the number of people walking in couples but listening to earphones over the weekend.
The TV and radio host said he did a lot of walking in his time off and kept noticing people in pairs but neither interacting.
He told his RTE Radio One listeners: "One thing I did notice a lot over the weekend, I did a lot of walking, I pretty much talked to no human being for three days.
"But one thing I noticed was people walking a long as a couple, now it could be father and son, husband and wife, a couple anyway - and one of them listening to earphones.
"I thought that's a bit weird, is that their way of saying 'ok we're going for a walk but the match is on so we will compromise by me listening to Mayo win and you can enjoy the sea because we are happy."
The TV host admitted that he too had been out listening to earphones, albeit by himself, at the weekend which may have led some to seeing him and thinking he was a "fool".
"I enjoyed Callan's kicks on Friday which I heard on Saturday on a walk, on my constitutional, and I was chuckling to myself while I listened, walking along the pier by the sea.
"And really having a hearty chuckle, people must have looked at me and though he is absolutely demented..'look at him laughing into his sleeve like a fool'."
The host is back from his walks now and on the airs for the week as excitement builds for the Late Late Toy Show in two weeks time.
