RTE's Ryan Tubridy and listeners get in the party mood as Dolly Parton visits Late Late Show

If there's one things we know for sure about Dolly Parton, it's that she brings the noise.

And tonight was no exception, as the Tennessee icon made a (virtual) appearance on RTE's Late Late Show.

Dolly has teamed up with Barry Gibb of the Bee Gees for a new album that reimagines the band's most iconic tunes.

And one viewer on social media summed up the mood of the country as he tweeted: "WHAT in God's name did we do to get Dolly Parton on the show twice in a few weeks. Not worthy."

Another communicated a lot with a simple phrase: "Yeehaw."

Dolly charmed the country as she talked all things music – prompting one to offer: "God I love Dolly Parton more every time I see her."

Her famous chuckle – the melter of many a heart – was the focus of another viewer, who wrote: "Dolly Parton's laugh MUST be protected, at ALL COSTS."

And Dolly's appearance comes after she won plaudits for asking officials in her native Tennessee to put on hold plans for a statue in her honour to go outside the state's Capitol buildings.

“I am honored and humbled by their intention, but I have asked the leaders of the state legislature to remove the bill from any and all consideration,” Parton tweeted on Thursday.

Parton explained that there were more important things to address at the moment than having her image displayed in the Capitol – which is fair enough, given the situation in the world amid the pandemic.

“Given all that is going on in the world, I don’t think putting me on a pedestal is appropriate at this time,” she said.

“I hope, though, that somewhere down the road several years from now or perhaps after I’m gone if you still feel I deserve it, then I’m certain I will stand proud in our great State Capitol as a grateful Tennessean.”
