RTE's Ryan Tubridy and Late Late Show viewers 'amazed' by guest and his treasure hunting

Ryan Tubridy welcomed Irish Pickers' star Ian Dowling onto the Late Late Show on Friday night where he told of his TV show and his treasure hunting.

The young Irish man has become a bit of a TV star with his show Irish Pickers where they travel around looking for anything from historic memorabilia and celebrity artefacts to rare coins and important letters.

The show currently airs on Sky and Blaze in the UK but Ian and his work was new to many when he appeared on the prime time RTE slot.

And Tubridy as well as viewers at home were all similarly intrigued by the curly-haired star.

Darragh Bohan tweeted: "Loved the artefacts on the #latelate tonight from Ian Dowling of Rare Irish Stuff.

"Some really interesting Irish stuff, I love all d stuff. How much is the Irish Jameson Whiskey dispenser??"

Thomas Maguire added: "Brilliant show Ian. Hope ye will be on the road again soon."

While many others agreed the slot was "very interesting".

Speaking to Tubs, Ian told that while his pub market has now slowed down considerably, many people are buying old items for their home bars and man caves.

He said: "This is my bread and butter really, pub decor. Whether it's for home bars or man caves and that, so old signs or anything like that keeps me going.

"The pubs have kind of quietened down for me so it's home bars and people doing up a shed out the back and all that kind of stuff."
